"After 20 years in the wine industry, I’ve come to love how wine can elevate moments, whether it’s bringing people together or complementing a great meal. I wanted to create an elegant non-alcoholic alternative that didn’t sacrifice taste, and that’s how Misty Cliffs was born."
Jason entered the wine business over 20 years ago and his passion for it has only grown. While he still appreciates a great bottle, like many, he’s drinking less alcohol these days.
Weekends, he enjoys ‘zebra striping’ with non-alcoholic wines.

STORY BEHIND THE NAME
Whenever I think back to the mist, I feel a sense of calm. It reminds me of childhood holidays by the ocean; long days on the beach with friends, coastal walks in the Cape, golden sunsets that seemed to stretch forever.
Years later, living on the Bay in San Francisco, I found that same stillness watching the fog roll over the Golden Gate bridge. Then again in Big Sur, on a misty afternoon when I proposed to my wife.
That quiet, relaxing feeling is what inspired the name Misty Cliffs, a wine for moments that invite pause, presence, and connection.

ABOUT OUR FOUNDER
For Jason Stanley, Misty Cliffs isn’t just a brand, it’s a memory, a feeling, a homecoming.
He grew up in the southern suburbs of Cape Town, where the coastal town of Hermanus became his childhood sanctuary. School holidays meant freedom: long cliff walks, ice-cold swims, and golden-hour gatherings with friends. More often than not, the air was wrapped in a soft marine mist. In that haze, light shimmering off the Atlantic, laughter in the air, Jason felt most relaxed and at ease. Years later, that feeling would become his compass.
After leaving South Africa and settling in Boston, Jason began a brief career in finance but quickly realized it wasn’t his calling. He traded spreadsheets for cellars, joining the sales team of a leading U.S. wine importer. By his mid-twenties, he was jetting between Michelin-starred dinners, New York trade tastings, and Aspen food festivals, introducing South African fine wines to America’s top restaurateurs. It was exhilarating work...for a while.
But years of constant tasting and travel began to take their toll. Jason still loved wine, its elegance, its ritual, its story, but his body craved something different: clarity, balance, and health. The answer wasn’t to abandon wine, but to reimagine it.
That’s when the idea for Misty Cliffs took root. Jason set out to craft premium non-alcoholic wines that honored the winemaking traditions he knew so well; no shortcuts, no artificial flavorings, no compromise. Returning to his South African roots, he sourced grapes from exceptional Cape vineyards and partnered with innovators in de-alcoholized winemaking to create wines of purity and depth.
Today, Jason continues that mission with a singular focus: to craft elegant, expressive wines that offer the complexity and soul of fine wine, without the alcohol.
For him, Misty Cliffs is about giving people the freedom to enjoy wine on their own terms. To choose wellness without sacrificing sophistication. To feel connected, confident, and fully present; just like he once did on those misty cliffs of Hermanus.
